Publish Date:2020-03-17
Upon the confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) diagnosis of an Australian musician, National Concert Hall was closed for sterilization and canceled recent performances. In response to the incident, Pingtung Performing Arts Center immediately upgraded epidemic prevention measures from today. Apart from measuring body temperature and sterilizing the venue, the Center will request all guests to sit separately and to wear a facial mask throughout the performance.

Cultural Affairs Department, Pingtung County Government expressed that, according to Ministry of Culture’s Principles of Epidemic Response for Cultural Venue, the County would immediately upgrade epidemic prevention measures of the County’s cultural venues from today, including: (1) All guests must wear a facial mask throughout the performance/exhibition. If not, no access will be allowed. (2) All guests must cooperate to measure their body temperature. Those whose body temperature is above 37.5°C will be recommended to seek for medical advice and will be denied entering the venue. (3) The aforesaid guests whose access has been denied will be assisted with ticket refunds on site. (4) All guests shall follow on-site personnel’s instructions to sit separately.

As COVID-19 continues to spread, Pingtung Performing Arts Center has canceled or postponed some events: seven March events have been postponed; three April events have been canceled; and the rest events will take place as scheduled. With respect the said event change and ticket refunds, please go to Ministry of Culture’s official website or Facebook Fanpage for more information.

The Department expressed that, as most of cultural venues are indoor places, the County already initiated epidemic prevention measures after the Spring Festival. For example, not only should all personnel measure their body temperature, wear a facial mask and regularly sterilize the venue, but also all guests must follow epidemic prevention measures before entering the exhibition/performing venue. With respect to environmental/venue sterilization, the Center also increased the cleaning force to clean and sterilize the venue at least once per day and to keep ventilation of the space. Also, when any event takes place, the sterilization frequency of before and after the events is also increased.
