PINGTUNG 屏東
A place worth spending your life.
There's a Kind of Time Called Pingtung Time
Coming to Taiwan, the island of Pōsō in the Pacific. There's also a kind of time called Pingtung time. Here, you have your own speed and rhythm. While scheduled times are conventionally agreed upon, without the reminder of a clock, one often forgets the existence of time. In coastal towns, fishermen still go out to sea based on weather, wind direction, and speed. In mountain villages, nature's time still governs people's routines. In recent years, the timetables for festival activities have quietly replaced AM or PM with lunar or solar time.
When you arrive in Pingtung, step into the station or transit center, please reset your time. Use your mood as the hour hand and your energy as the minute hand. Decide whether to drive, take a bus, train, bicycle, or walk. At different speeds, see the world on the road and find yourself along the way.
Summer is meant for seriously lounging by the sea, with the undoubted final destination being the Hengchun Peninsula.
But on the way to Hengchun, why not let yourself get a little lost?
On the southbound train journey, get on and off at your whim, then switch to a YouBike, rent a car, or walk.
Using the station or transit center as the starting point, draw a circle within a 30-minute range.
Spin within these circles of various sizes, experiencing a spontaneous summer encounter at different speeds and perspectives...
